lyrics
WOKE WITHOUT WEAPONS woke up without any weapons. A martyr for a digital rainbow. Without
arms my body's a graveyard. woke up in pale sunlight in a shadow where i touched a man. Woke up
without any weapons, in the digital rainbow where i'm not fit to fuck, my body's a graveyard. woke up
without weapons just hands carved out of porcelain story and the promise of safety and my father's long
jailed soul. woke up without any weapons just the taste of the dust from a bible by the nightstand, another
night in the arms of a ghost, under the sheets with a wolf. Woke up without weapons, without drugs,
without arms, without love, tossing and turning into the abyss. woke up without system, with no system to
replace it with. no air for a songless horse, the red ripe gale with a kiwi voice. woke up without weapons.
just a hatred of system, just system in my veins. no air for a songless horse, red ripe gale

Opener absolutely rips. Falls into the ranks of tracks like “Dance” by ESG, “Eisbaer” by Grauzone, “Damaged Goods” by Gang of Four or like the album description says Kleenex. This is some really good stuff. Favorite song is the opener but dedicate “Blue” to my friend Blue who lost her life at 22, she would have loved this album. TheBloodofChrist
The Minneapolis band add a horn section, a running surrealist allegory about walls, and an occasional nod to the elegiac to their electroshocked post-punk. Bandcamp Album of the Day Mar 4, 2024

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
